Who are you?

Hey everyone! I'm Stephen from Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania and I'm a member of the Class of 2024 studying Economics. In addition to serving as USG's U-Council Chair, I am the president of Club Football, a PAA in NCW, an Orange Key Tour Guide, and a member of Charter. In my free time, I enjoy watching sports (primarily baseball and football) and late-night walks around campus with friends.

What have you done on USG?

When I ran for U-Councilor, I promised to add in-town options to meal plans and to tangibly improve Princeton’s mental health resources. I’ve followed through on these promises.

I led the advocacy that created Pay with Points which gives students on the unlimited meal plan $150 of points per semester to spend on Nassau and on campus (it has been awesome to see how much people love this program and how it has been able to grow over just a semester). More information about this program is available here.

As Chair of the Mental Health Resources Task Force, I led advocacy that convinced Princeton to

  • create the Cares Line (Princeton’s first 24/7 on-demand resource)

  • not rely solely on Public Safety for wellness checks by training residential life coordinators

  • fund transportation to off-campus care by the end of Spring 2023

and a variety of other improvements, all driven by student input. You can read more about that here.

I have also done a variety of other work which includes

  • Leading a team of 10 U-Councilors as the USG's current U-Council Chair

  • Restarting USG's efforts to reform the Honor Code and Committee on Discipline through co-chairing the Ad Hoc Committee on Student Disciplinary Processes

  • Working with Chioma Ugwonali '24 to bring a Wind Phone to campus so there is a physical location for Princetonians to grieve at

  • Successfully advocating for all juniors and seniors to get PawPoints when they are in COVID-19 isolation

  • Helping organize the International Student mixer event this fall

  • Connecting the Muslim Student Association with relevant administrators to improve the Ramadan experience

  • Ensuring USG Movies had the funding to organize a trip to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

  • Helping design the annual USG Survey and organize giveaways to incentivize students to complete it

  • Co-authoring the position paper supporting the referendum to require all classes to provide some sort of midterm feedback

  • Pushing for students stuck on campus over last winter break due to changing COVID-19 guidelines to have more Princeton-funded activities
